This week, Iowans for Tax Relief Foundation released a poll that backs up what anyone with a pulse in Iowa is saying: Governor Kim Reynolds and Senator Chuck Grassley are plowing the field on their way to re-election.
The poll reflected a strong showing for Governor Reynolds, with 57 percent favorability and 53 percent saying she deserves re-election next year. (Iowans for Tax Relief came to the same conclusion as the Register: Reynolds does not have a Democrat opponent worth polling her against in either this poll or the Des Moines Register Iowa Poll.) Under Governor Reynolds leadership, 54 percent of Iowans believe Iowa is heading in the right direction.
The poll also shows that Senator Grassley has a commanding lead of more than 16 points over his likely opponent, ex-Rep. Abby Finkenauer. Finkenauer is the first member of Congress to be kicked out of office by Iowans, after just one term, in more than fifty years. This comes one month after the Des Moines Register Iowa Poll showed Senator Chuck Grassley leading Finkenauer by 18 points.
Not to be overlooked is the sinking poll numbers for President Biden amongst Iowa voters. Iowans are souring on Biden, with 58 percent disapproving of his job. Not surprising after President Biden’s failures at our southern border and in Afghanistan, roaring inflation, and energy prices on the rise. Finkenauer and Axne have yet to condemn most of President Biden’s failures plaguing our country after they enthusiastically endorsed him for president.
Congressman Cindy Axne should take note; almost 60 percent of Iowans oppose President Biden and Democrats’ reckless tax and spending spree being pushed aggressively by Democrats in D.C. One would think Axne would listen to her constituents in Iowa’s third district and oppose this massive bill that will result in cradle-to-grave social programs reaching every American. But it’s unlikely Axne will side with Iowans on this important issue, since she votes with Speaker Pelosi 100% of the time.
This polling also comes after a month plagued with scandal for Axne.
