The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is targeting Rep. Cindy Axne with a new ad following revelations that Axne broke her promise not to accept corporate PAC money.
Earlier today, the Des Moines Register reported, “U.S. Rep. Cindy Axne has begun accepting donations from corporate political committees after swearing them off in previous campaigns.”
Axne’s most recent campaign finance report showed she accepted tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from political action committees after previously deriding politicians who take those contributions as corrupt.
“Whether it’s illegal stock trading or taking corporate PAC money after promising not to, it’s clear Cindy Axne can’t be trusted,” NRCC Spokesman Mike Berg told Iowa Field Report in a statement.
Axne was under fire last year for failing to properly disclose between about $43,000 and $645,000 in stock trades, an apparent violation of federal law.
