Rep. Linda Upmeyer announced today via email to state GOP central committee members that she has thrown her hat in the ring to serve as the Iowa GOP Co-Chair.
Her announcement comes after former Co-Chairman, Dr. Cody Hoefert, announced that he would not seek another term as Co-Chair. In her email, obtained by Iowa Field Report, Upmeyer praises Hoefert’s leadership, work ethic, and many accomplishments in the role.

Hoefert also took to Facebook to share his thoughts and thanks on the decision.

Representative Linda L. Upmeyer represents House District 54. Upmeyer was also the very first woman to hold the position of Speaker of the Iowa House of Representatives. Iowa GOP’s current chairman, Jeff Kaufmann, told party members on Saturday that he would seek a fourth term.
