Iowa Field Report has learned that former vice president of the United States Mike Pence will speak at Iowa’s Second Congressional District Republican Party Convention this Saturday. The visit will be in support of Rep. Ashley Hinson.

“Congresswoman Ashley Hinson has been a champion for Iowa, her district, and the conservative movement,” said Vice President Pence. “I look forward to joining Ashley and meeting Republican delegates in the 2nd District to discuss our shared conservative values and vision for Iowa’s future.”

Other speakers include Governor Kim Reynolds, Secretary of State Paul Pate, Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, Roby Smith, Brenna Bird, and Mary Ann Hanusa.  According to the Republican Party of Iowa, a crowd of approximately 300 is expected to attend. The convention is scheduled for 10:00 am at the Heartland Acres event center in Independence, Iowa.

Pence, who will also be attending the Fourth District Convention in Carroll with Rep. Randy Feenstra,  will also stop in Ames for a fundraiser with the Stroy County GOP at Ames Golf and Country Club.

Pence’s 501(c)4, Advancing American Freedom, is currently running an ad in Iowa’s third congressional district targeting Cindy Axne. The ad urges her to support policies that will return the United States to energy independence that America experienced under the Trump-Pence years, and that will support American energy dominance.

The Vice-President’s visit comes shortly after the Republican National Committee cemented Iowa’s first in the nation status last week. He has made multiple trips to the Cyclone state. Last year he was the special guest at Randy Feenstra’s Inaugural Family Picnic and gave remarks at the Family Leadership Summit, attended several grassroots events, and spoke at the University of Iowa.
