Susan B. Anthony List, the influential pro-life group, announced Monday its endorsement of Republican congressional candidate, Mariannette Miller-Meeks.
“With a 100 percent pro-life voting record during her time in the Iowa Senate, Mariannette Miller-Meeks can be depended on to stand with unborn children and their mothers,” said the Honorable Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List Candidate Fund Vice President.
“Mariannette has consistently backed pro-life initiatives, such as the effort to put a pro-life constitutional amendment directly on the ballot for Iowa voters, and legislation stopping taxpayer funding of abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood. Her record stands in stark contrast to Rita Hart, a pro-abortion extremist who is endorsed by groups that promote abortion on demand through birth. This election is an opportunity to replace outgoing pro-abortion Congressman Dave Loebsack with a strong pro-life woman leader. We are pleased to endorse Mariannette and urge pro-life Iowans to support her, Musgrave concluded.
The endorsement comes after a contentious Republican primary fight against former Illinois congressman Bobby Schilling. The support should helpful folding in former Schilling supporters to flip the second congressional district from Blue to Red. Current congressman Dave Loebsack announced he would not seek another term. Miller-Meeks will face Democrat Rita Hart this fall.
“The Susan B. Anthony List is a family of organizations committed to healing, not hurting, and shielding, not shaming. Those organizations and the more than 837,000 pro-life Americans they represent stand tall in the public arena in support of the unborn, and I am honored to have their support and accept the endorsement of the Susan B. Anthony List,” said Miller-Meeks. I will not waiver in my determination to protect the unborn and advance the principle that all life is precious. I invite all Iowans that hold these same values to join us in this campaign and bring pro-life values from Iowa’s 2nd District to Washington, D.C.”
