After Wisconsin Congressman Ron Kind unexpectedly announced his retirement last week, Iowa Congresswoman Cindy Axne became the new top target for the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC).
And Axne is quickly going to realize what being the top target means.
Earlier this month the NRCC announced a new media campaign hitting the Des Moines Democrat on the rising cost of everyday goods. Now, the NRCC is handing out fans at the State Fair tying Axne to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
NRCC Spokesman Mike Berg blamed Axne for rising prices at the State Fair this year and slammed her for voting in lockstep with Speaker Pelosi.
“We want to remind Iowans that their Congresswoman Cindy Axne’s voting record is indistinguishable from that of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi,” Berg said. “Not even the State Fair is safe from the rising prices caused by Axne and Pelosi’s reckless spending.”
The Des Moines Democrat has never received more than 50% of the vote district-wide in either 2018 & 2020. In her most recent race, Axne won a majority of the vote in just a single county – the liberal stronghold of Polk county.
