Governor Kim Reynolds announced this week her backing signature of a future bill regarding a Transgender athletic ban in Iowa.
“It’s a fairness issue. Either we have girl sports or we don’t,” said Reynolds.
The Governor answered several questions from the media on the need for the legislation. Below is an excerpt from her press conference Wednesday on the matter.
“They have the right to compete and to be entitled to scholarship and they should be able to compete with girls. That’s it, and if a bill gets to my desk I will sign it,” explained the Governor.
Reynolds is currently requesting that Iowa lawmakers write up a transgender ban before the session is finished, all the while staying adamant in her stance for fairness for girls statewide.
