Mailbag: Mike Franken Does Not Take Military Sexual Assault Seriously
Mike Franken stated in a 2021 Intercept article that unreported sexual crimes in Africa between 2010 and 2020 was a partisan attack. As a source in that article, I can attest the article was written to highlight problems of how the military dealt with sexual assault. There was no partisan agenda whatsoever. At the time, Mr. Franken was months away from announcing his eventual bid for the U.S. Senate.

Here in Iowa, we love our veterans, and as a combat veteran myself, I try to find unique ways to honor and support these heroes. That’s one reason why we added a ruck march to our day of activities this year. A ruck march is a common military training exercise where you carry a weighted pack — better known as a ruck sack — and walk in honor of the fallen and all of our servicemembers and veterans.

Kinney Pushes Disinformation

Franken and Miller Silent on Finkenauer’s Outburst
Ex-Rep. Abby Finkenauer’s callous and widely condemned remarks about Polk County District Judge Scott Beattie reflect her disdain for the separation of powers in our system of government. Even two of her fellow Democrats — Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand and Rep. Cindy Axne — joined the chorus of liberal pundits, editors and respected legal minds who called on her to walk back her comments.
