Governor Kim Reynolds signed into law SF 160 Friday; the law requires all Iowa schools to provide an in-person instruction option. The new requirement will go into effect on February 15.

Parents, desperate for more options, celebrated the action. Republican Party of Iowa of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann stated the following about the new law.
“Gov. Reynolds and legislative Republicans trust Iowa parents to make the best decisions for their own children. GOP leaders recognize that getting kids safely back to school is an important step to our state’s COVID recovery, will help prevent learning loss and encourage student achievement. Iowans are grateful to have Gov. Reynolds as well as House and Senate Republicans who are committed to putting local control in the hands of parents and families.”
